Pinot – surprise winner of the Grand Prix CREDIT SUISSE

After a highly turbulent race, seven-year old Pinot with driver Alfredo Lupo Wolf surprisingly won the Grand Prix CREDIT SUISSE. Second place went to Mombasa (Adrian von Gunten) who ended her career with this race and bowed out grasping the traditional basket of vegetables. In the years 2012, 2013 and 2016, Adrian von Gunten won the Credit Suisse Skikjöring Trophy with this horse. Turbulence ruled right from the start when Daulys Anthem and Sociopath became driverless. As expected, Usbekia with Valeria Holinger took over the lead, but the mare fell back quickly. Franco Moro with Perfect Swing on the other hand, always looked better from the start and by the final bend there was no doubt about their victory. But suddenly, Page 2 of 3 Perfect Swing fell before being recovered by Franco Moro, leaving the duo with no hope at all of winning and finishing fourth behind Fit For The Job (Silvio Martin Staub), in front of Usbekia and Valeria Holinger. However, the rules state that any horse that falls must be disqualified. This is how Valeria Holinger won the Credit Suisse Skikjöring Trophy for the second time in a row and was able to receive the crown as Queen of the Engadine.
