I have been a member of the racing club for over sixty years, forty-five of which I was actively involved. No wonder - we have had horses in our family for as long as I can remember.

The backdrop alone, with the mountains in the background and the special atmosphere on the lake, thrills us every time and is an absolute highlight for us from the Pony Club.

Ever since my childhood I have had close links with the Engadine because of my winter holidays. Already as a youngster I passionately attended the horseraces on the lake. Though, at that time White Turf took place in a completely different form.

Since 1985, Markus Hauser has been running the fourth-generation family hotel of the same name. In addition, his heart has been beating for more than 25 years for White Turf: as president, board member and public caterer.

Together with her partner Patrick Chédeville, Swiss Antoinette Tamagni breeds racehorses at top level. For her, White Turf is a fixed item on her agenda - and it has been for many years.

Reto Vanoli is the head of the organising committee of horseraces in Zurich Dielsdorf, racehorse owner, joint owner of the stable community Stall Allegra - and, ever since his early childhood, has been at home on racecourses.

German-born Christian Freiherr von der Recke ranks as an expert trainer in international horse racing. In his racing stable “Rennstall Recke”, many a champion has achieved great results and caused quite a stir at White Turf.

Despite the tremendous pace of the race, the winner of the 79th Grand Prix of St. Moritz was able to savour every minute as the spectators cheered him at White Turf. In his opinion, exceptional emotions like this can’t be experienced anywhere else.

Star photographer Jürgen Sendel has cult status with prominent personalities throughout the world. At White Turf he is seen as one of the family.

As a successful racehorse owner, René Leiser belongs to the best-known Swiss personalities in the international horse racing scene. For him, White Turf counts among the very special events of the year.

Thanks to his longstanding regular participation, horse owner Hugo Beijerman from Zurich is no stranger at White Turf.

Every year, over three race Sundays in February, noble thoroughbreds from all over Europe along with international jockeys enthral more than 30,000 spectators by racing on the frozen lake of St. Moritz.
